Hence, the demand for employees who have specialized Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) skills. Monitoring and evaluation, therefore, is an essential function for all organizations, programmes and projects, and consequently international and public-sector organizations have for several years been investing in the creation of such structures. To meet the need for specialist knowledge in this field, the Research Department wishes to offer a course programme that provides technical skills and tools required to ensure effective monitoring of projects and programmes, and to manage the various evaluations that are part of the programming cycle.

Qualitative researchers now have the option to apply technology tools in their approach for data management and data analysis to ease the complexity of the research process. NVivo is one such powerful software for the qualitative analysis of text, audio, video, survey and social media data. The course is going to be a five-day course with an aim of providing a comprehensive overview of NVivo and an opportunity for participants to analyse qualitative data for their own projects. Microsoft Project management computer application/learning programme is a leading software that enables managers and individuals to achieve project outcomes faster and more efficiently. It provides basic knowledge and practical skills for successful delivery of small and medium size projects within set time frame, project budget and specifications. The use of MS Project in project management helps contain a significant amount of project information which otherwise would require several files to keep. Furthermore, the course will teach participants how to manage and control many projects for their businesses efficiently. The course will consist of two-hour sessions for five working days. There are no prerequisites for this course, only that the user their own licensed Microsoft® Project application software (2019 or later version), an understanding and basic ability to work on Microsoft® Office Suite and access to the internet.

E-Views offers a wide range of features for data manipulation, statistics and econometric analysis, as well as for forecasting, simulations and analytical presentations of data. E-Views is used to estimate and run the different models for estimation and prediction. The usage of mobile data collection tools for data management is on the rise, so is the demand for such skills. Mobile data collection tools are the main tools being in the research community. These tools include SurveyCTO, Kobo collect, Open Data Kit, and CommCare among many others. The course will serve as an important component for those with interest in questionnaire designing, research design and data collection, data analysis and many other. The course will consist of one week of physical learning. The formal prerequisites will include some basics in research.

This course will aim to introduce participants on how to develop data collection forms in Kobo tool box for collecting data using mobile devices online and offline. The course will be practical in content and will include five modules covering the following: introduction to Kobo collect, form building both online and offline in XLS form, implement skip and validation logic, deploying the form into mobile devices, collect and upload data and viewing and downloading data. All modules will be covered physically in sessions running for 2 hours daily. Participants will engage in both formative and summative assessments in each module. The assessments will be in a form of assessment quizzes, discussions forums both offline and online activity submissions. All assessments will be marked by the course instructor and other members of the facilitation team. A combined final mark of greater than or equal to 65% will see a participant acquire a certificate of attendance.Target Group
