The University of Lusaka (UNILUS) School of Law has been established as a centre of excellence that offers a number of programs which fall within the realms of commercial, public (including international), private, and procedural law. The LLM program offered by the University of Lusaka has in the past 10 years gone beyond striving for professional achievement and excellence, by infusing theory to practicality. This has resulted in a breed of Graduates of a different kind who realize that the practice of law is not an end in itself but the specialised program offered by The University of Lusaka as being the beginning to a fulfilling career. In the last decade of its existence, the LLM programme being offered by the University of Lusaka has grown from strength to strength with students from around the African continent as far as Nigeria, Uganda, Tanzania, Botswana and Zimbabwe. The program goes beyond the traditional law degree and blends the substantive content of the law with practice. The programme is mainly staffed by part time specialised legal experts and legal academics, who all possess a minimum qualification of a Magister Legum (LLM) with Practical experience in their specialised field of study.
As a general rule, applicants for Masters Programmes must hold a good first Degree in the relevant field of their desired studies or acceptable professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, ACA, inter alia. However, a tentative separate system of entry requirements may be devised, in the discretion of the Senate, should an exceptionally deserving case of application arise.
